So the joke tournament continues its predictable course... even a world championship of baseball or basketball wouldn't be this one sided.
England duly thrashed by 9 tries to 1 (52-4) in the heartland of Aussie Rules.
There is no way Rugby League is ever going to make it as an international sport unless it merges with Union... and that's not very likely. -

Somebody else raises the same question...
But comes up with a different answer. A good blog post from the BBC supporting the structure and promising an 'intense competition'.

The 4 yearly silly season that is the Rugby League World Cup kicks off today. A competition that only has one winner with two other teams playing each other to meet the winner in the final. Even the tournament structure is contrived - with the 4 strongest teams in one group (3 of which go to the semi-finals) and 2 other groups containing teams with the usual mix of players that have forgotten what a nation state is.
So we'll announce the result here first... Rugby League World Cup 2007 winners are of course... Scotland. No replies. Login to reply
